Turn Conversations Into Opportunities
Scott Cameron State Farm is looking for an energetic, persistent, and goal-oriented Telemarketing Representative to join our team in Ocala, Florida.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys talking with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is motivated by achieving measurable results. Your primary responsibility will be simple
start conversations, create interest, and schedule qualified appointments for our insurance sales team.
You will not spend your day waiting for the phone to ring. This is an active outbound role where success comes from consistent activity, strong communication, effective follow-up, and the ability to connect with people quickly. If you are competitive, comfortable on the phone, and willing to be coached, we want to meet you.
As a Telemarketing Representative, you will
- Make outbound calls to prospective and existing customers.
- Develop leads and identify opportunities for insurance conversations.
- Engage prospects using a conversational, needs-focused approach.
- Ask questions to understand the customer’s current situation and potential insurance needs.
- Create interest in speaking with one of our licensed insurance professionals.
- Schedule qualified appointments for the sales team.
- Consistently follow up with leads who are not immediately ready to schedule.
- Maintain accurate notes and customer information in our systems.
- Work assigned lead lists and prospecting opportunities consistently.
- Help develop referral and relationship-based opportunities.
- Meet individual activity and appointment-setting goals.
- Participate in regular coaching, call review, role-play, and skill development.
This Is Not Traditional Telemarketing
We are not looking for someone to read the same robotic script hundreds of times a day. We train our team to have real conversations.
That means learning how to
- Ask better questions.
- Listen to what people actually say.
- Create curiosity rather than pressure.
- Understand why a prospect may or may not be interested.
- Handle resistance professionally.
- Follow up without becoming pushy.
- Help prospects recognize when it may make sense to review their insurance.
Our goal is to create a reason for someone to want to have the next conversation, not pressure them into one.
What Success Looks Like
This is a performance-based position. Successful team members consistently
- Make a high volume of outbound contacts.
- Start meaningful conversations.
- Ask questions rather than simply reading a pitch.
- Create and schedule qualified appointments.
- Follow up consistently.
- Track their activity.
- Accept coaching and make adjustments.
- Stay positive and productive even when people say no.
You should be comfortable knowing that your activity and results will be measured.
You may be a strong fit if you are
- Comfortable on the phone Talking with new people does not intimidate you.
- Persistent A few unanswered calls or rejections do not stop you.
- Competitive Goals motivate you.
- Coachable You are willing to listen to calls, role-play, receive feedback, and improve.
- Curious You are willing to ask questions rather than immediately jumping into a sales pitch.
- Self-motivated You can maintain your activity without constant supervision.
- Personable You can quickly make people feel comfortable talking with you.
- Organized You reliably manage leads, notes, callbacks, and appointments.
- Resilient You understand that rejection is part of prospecting and do not take it personally.
- Team-oriented You understand that your appointments create opportunities for the entire agency.
Previous telemarketing, appointment-setting, customer service, recruiting, call-center, or sales experience is helpful, but it is not required.
We care significantly about work ethic, communication ability, competitiveness, coachability, and willingness to learn.
A Career Path, Not Just a Calling Job
For the right person, this role can be the starting point for a much larger career.
You will learn valuable skills in
- Prospecting
- Communication
- Appointment setting
- Sales psychology
- Customer relationship development
- Insurance and financial services
- Objection handling
- Follow-up and pipeline management
Team members who demonstrate strong performance, coachability, and leadership potential can have opportunities to pursue insurance licensing and advance into sales or other positions within the agency.
